In the home it is becoming popular to use natural materials. Woods, laminates and veneers are being used more often for furniture and Flooring because of their ease of use and care. You can find many different varieties of woods available for home use, from the simple and cost efficient pines to the more exotic and expensive mesquite. If you were raised on vinyl you may be worried that caring for natural wood is too difficult or time consuming. However, there are many cleaning supplies for cleaning hardwood floors, which makes the task an easy and quick process.

To care for your hardwood floor on a daily basis you should use a good dust mop or vacuum to remove the dust and dirt. If the area is in an area without much traffic this may be all you have to do. You should also occasionally carefully wash and wax the area to keep it completely clean. The method you will use for cleaning your floor will depend on the sealant that is used on the floor. You should check with the manufacturer to see what kind of sealant your floor has and the recommended cleaning supplies you should use. This will avoid any problems with your floor’s warranty and avoid damaging the floor. You will also make your work much easier. It is important to note that you should never use a cleaner with an ammonia base on your wood floor.

A hardwood floor that is properly cleaned and cared for creates a warm and beautiful environment in your home. It is an elegant and stylish look. The care of your beautiful hardwood floor is pretty simple. To keep your floor looking as good as new you will need to exercise some preventative maintenance and buy the correct cleaning supplies that are specifically made for hardwood floors. Hardwood floors are damaged the most by the use of water and dirt that is gritty and able to scratch the finish. Water will warp the wood if it is allowed to set on the floor for any length of time. You should make sure to mop up any water that is spilled on your hardwood floor immediately. If it becomes necessary to wipe up a sticky mess on the floor make sure you use a damp only cloth. You should also quickly dry the area and buff out the area completely. You can use area rugs in any areas that have the risk of having water spilt on them.

Use a mat in front of your door to keep the dirt outside and away from your hardwood floors. Shake these rugs out often. Once a week vacuum the floor with a brush attachment on your vacuum. A dust mop and dustpan can also be used for weekly cleaning. Attach felt pads to the bottom of your furniture to avoid scratching and remember that furniture should be picked up and not pushed across the floor. Watch your shoes and make sure that they cannot damage your floor. And keep your pets toenails clipped to prevent more scratching.

You should clean or re wax and buff your floor once a year. You should make sure that you use a cleaner that is made for cleaning wood floors. The type of treatment and product you use will depend on the type of floor and the manufacturers recommendations. If your floor has a surface finish it is acceptable to use the wood cleaner with a damp towel. But if your floor has a wax finish you will have to use a paste wax that is made specifically for hardwood floors. If you care for your floor on a regular basis you should only need to perform the cleaning once a year.

Attention apartment renters! Are neighbors ruining your life? How are you coping?
I rent a over priced, cheap insulation apartment in New Jersey. I have the neighbors from hell! Neighbor 1: Lives across the hall. He is low life trash. He chain smokes and it seeps into my apartment daily. My apartment smells like a bar room. My bathroom, living room, closets reek of smoke. I have a studio apartment so there is no escape. My throat is constantly sore. He barely leaves the apartment, so this is never ending. He doesn’t open his windows to let in fresh air and his door has turned from white to piss yellow. My dumb ass landlord doesn’t even care about his property turning yellow. Slams doors every time he enters his apartment. Neighbor 2, Upstairs: Foreign speaking day laborers living 6-7 in a 2-3 bedroom apartment. Every morning like clockwork heavy cowboy boots, clogs, steel tip boots walking back and forth, in and out, up and down in apartment. Stomping, running, wrestling, bowling and golf on cheap hardwood floors. They blast music, televisions and sing on a mic.Help!
I have talked to landlord. He keeps saying I will talk 2 them. Nothing is being done. I want to move, but I can’t afford a security deposit right now. Lease not up until 2009. I hate this place. There is no sound insulation in this apartment. Walls are paper thin. Landlord only cares about his rent check
To vexingco… I work two damn jobs, how many u got? I pay rent just like they do and I deserve to live in a healthy environment. Moving is not as simple as 1,2,3. If I had it like that, obviously I would have moved out. DUUUUH!

    Move out.
You can’t afford a security deposit but everyone else is low life trash -heard that before. Everyone else is responsible for your problems- if it weren’t for other people ruining your life you would be a happy well adjusted productive voting citizen.
    Poor thing.

***how does being in the Army have anything to do with neighbors?

Well, I used to have some really bad neighbors, and we called the cops on him and they came and took care of it. I was also in the army at the time, so that had a big part of it. Just call the cops and tell them theyre disturbing the peace. You might just have to move

Call Immigration on the upstairs people and hang a few air fresheners on the smokers door to give him a hint.

Neighbor 1: You can’t prohibit someone from smoking in their own apartment. It’s his place not yours. He can do whatever he wants to in his home so long as it’s not illegal and smoking isn’t. Put a towel underneath your door.
Neighbor 2: There is probably a limit as to the number of residents living in an apartment. However, your neighbor can circumvent that by merely saying that they’re guests. My building requires to be informed of any guest staying for more than 2 weeks. Check to see if any building rules are being broken.

Don’t you have some relatives or friends that you can live with?
Offer them a higher than market value rent, let them lease you a small room.

I have had noisy neighbors some years now, and I have done several things in order to keep my sanity.

One was call them when their dog was barking. If they had the nerve to allow their barking dog to wake me up at 11:00 PM or 2:00 AM, I would call them and wake them up as well.
(The poor animal got run over a few months later, and they haven’t replaced it.)

Another thing I learned to do was to sleep with ear plugs. They were uncomfortable at first; but since I really needed to rest I got used to using them!
    ……………………………………………………………..
I also have a young man who uses drugs living next door.

Some months ago, he had a party and woke me up at 3:00 AM with his loud music and laughter. I called the police… and had him come over and scream insults. The good thing is he "got it" and now is more respectful. (It also helped I know his mother and told her about the incident….THAT made him really angry!!!)

I also woke him up at 6:00 AM -when I knew he was sleeping-,and he came over and complained that I had woken him up.
I apologized and told him I understood EXACTLY how he felt because the same thing happened to me when he had parties on a Thursday, since I had to work the next day. (He was furious… but he could see my logic.)

It’s a pain to deal with noisy neighbors. Good luck!

I live in a condo, it is a 2 story, 2 appartments on the bottom and 2 on top. I live on the top floor and the people next to me are HORRIBLE!!!!

It started out as a family of 4, when the parents were married, they fought constantly! It didnt matter where they were, in the house or outside they were fighting. And now they are divorced and the woman lives there with the kids.

She leaves them alone all the time, they are 14 and 5. The 14 year old leaves the 5 year old in the house by herself and always has boys over. They skateboard down the stairs that are right next to my babys room!!!! I have talked to the mom and she tells me to mind my own business! I have even found condom wrappers from them, and used condoms in the bush, next to the stairs where they were.

I am friendly with the woman who lives below them and she said they drive her crazy too! They put hardwood floors in their house and they got a dog so it is soooo loud in her house when the dog runs on the floors

Keep a log of everything that goes on in the apartment.1- Time of day that your woken up by the unnessary noise coming from the upstairs apt. 2- Every time you complain to your landlord you should do it in writing, put the date on it and keep a copy for yourself. 3- Everytime you call the cops for the excess noise jot it in your log and ask the cops if you can get a copy of his police report. When you’ve had enough or when you find a better apt. ask your landlord for your security deposit back, then show him your log book. That could become a legal document in a court of law if he balks at returning your deposit. Good luck, I know what your going through, I went through it myself one time. Rob
