PostHeaderIcon should i use semi-gloss or satin finish paint on a cherry hardwood floor?

i have dark cherry wood floors, and i would like to have a lighter wall. I would like to know what kind of finish would be best
I am painting the wall a blue.

I have to agree that and eggshell finish is a great choice, tends to hide flaws in the wall and is washable.

At one of my jobs I mix paint for customers and have run into the problem of if your room is fairly bright, the "red" of the floor will cause a red hue to the wall. In your case, making the wall possibly look purple.

what color will go best with a brazilian cherry floor for a well lite 20 * 14 family room. Gold or Green?

Are you trying to paint the floor (as stated in your title) or the wall (as stated in your description)?

That’s an odd question. The paint finish has nothing to do with the floor at all. it depends on the texture of the wall surface and the type of room. Kitchens and dining rooms you would generally NOT use flat since they could be splashed with food and stain. Also, if your walls are rough in any way you don’t want to use any paint with a sheen to it because flaws will show up. Formal rooms like the living room usually look better with eggshell or satin. Overall, you can’t go wrong with eggshell for the walls and flat on the ceiling. Trim should always be semi-gloss.
